Emily Burn

Emily has been studying singing since her school days in Oxford with the Oxford Girls’ Choir (MD Richard Vendome).  She went to university in Manchester and, whilst studying for a degree in Social Anthropology, she performed at various music festivals in the Northwest, in recital classes for folk, classical and operatic repertoire.

Emily moved to London in 2006.  She was coached by Colin Baldy for two years and during this time she performed her recital programme, Love’s Philosophy (Schumann, Quilter, Purcell) at the Maldon Arts Festival and in Oxfordshire.  Her interest in lieder also lead to her participation in the Oxford Lieder Festival (October 2008), attending masterclasses with Sarah Walker and performing in the Holywell Music Room.  In additional to romantic repertoire, Emily greatly enjoys singing baroque music and was a soloist at the Easter Oratorio course (Colin Baldy, Handmade Opera) in Rome, 2008.  VOICE provides her with opportunities to explore her interests in folk, early music, and new repertoire.

Emily now studies with Ilona Domnich and sings with the Nonsuch Singers and other chamber ensembles.  She is studying for an MSc in Global Governance and Ethics at UCL.
