Emily Burn

Emily has been studying singing since her school days in Oxford with the Oxford Girls’ Choir (MD Richard Vendome).  She went to university in Manchester and, whilst studying for a degree in Social Anthropology, she performed at various music festivals in the Northwest, in recital classes for folk, classical and operatic repertoire.

Since moving to London Emily has developed her lieder singing experience, performing at the Maldon Arts Festival and in Oxfordshire.  She has taken part in the Oxford Lieder Festival (2008), taking master classes with Sarah Walker and performing in the Holywell Music Room.  Emily’s performance focus is now wholly on ensemble singing, first and foremost with Voice.

Her other ensemble engagements are with the a cappella female group, Sinfonye, directed by composer Stevie Wishart.  Emily performed Wishart’s composition Out of This World with Sinfonye at the Cadogan Hall as part of the 2011 BBC Proms.  She performs with the all-female choir, Schola Pietatis Antonio Vivaldi (SPAV), which specialises in authentic performances of Vivaldi and his contemporaries.   Her performances with SPAV have taken her to the La Pieta in Venice on a number of occasions, the Holywell Music Room, Oxford, and St George’s Bloomsbury. Emily is a member of the consort group, The Finsbury Singers who perform for corporate events and parties.  She is also a member of the chamber choir, the Nonsuch Singers, directed by Graham Caldbeck.

Emily is currently coached by soprano Ilona Domnich.
